What to expect?

This time, our event takes place at various locations in and around the village of Balgerhoeke (Eeklo). The Allied encampment will be set up on the grounds of Van Leeuwe at Pastoor Bonte straat no. 21. The German encampment will be set up on the grounds of the Van den Braembussche stonemasonry at Balgerhoeke no. 85A. On Saturday and Sunday, the battle takes place on the village square, involving the steam train from Maldegem. In the parish centre (entrance via Pastoor Bontestraat no. 2 and also via the side of the church) there is a bar where you can get a snack and a drink. On Saturday evening, there will be a dinner with warm ham on the bone and a liberation party in 1940s style with numerous performances in the parish centre. On Sunday morning, the commemoration ceremony takes place at the Sherman tank “Clanky” near the Balgerhoeke bridge.
